COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Did You Know...

The Raleigh Racquet Club is a non-profit tennis facility that is always looking for ways to give back to our community. Here are a few of our on-going efforts:

Jimmy V Foundation Racquets for Research

The annual tennis-based fund-raiser supporting the Jimmy V Foundation is in it's fifth year at the Raleigh Racquet Club. We encourage tennis players to take part in the clinics by registering here. We also encourage fans to come to the exhibition match played by former Grand Slam champions, enjoy our buffet lunch, and enter to win one of many prizes! You are sure to enjoy this fun and exciting event while supporting a good cause.  See Photos from the 2011 Jimmy V event!

Reuse of Tennis Balls

You can't play with a tennis ball forever, so we find them a new home and a new job. We collect all used tennis balls and donate them to retirement homes and schools, mainly to use on the bottoms of chairs. They also can make terrific craft projects.  If you are in need of a bag of our used tennis balls, feel free to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Our little friend Henry is enjoying his donation at the Triangle Beagle Rescue!

Reuse of Tennis Ball Cans

We just donated all of the tennis ball cans from a recent tournament to The Scrap Exchange. Have tennis ball cans -- with or without the tops -- you want to donate? Just visit the Raleigh Racquet Club and drop them off. They'll be picked up regularly by The Scrap Exchange!

Ronald McDonald House Tennis Ball Can Lid Donations

Don't throw them away! You will find a bin in our clubhouse to place the metal lids of your newly opened tennis ball cans. When the bin is filled, our general manager transports them to the Ronald McDonald House in Durham. This organization then sells the lids for recycling as another way to raise money for their house.

Used Racquets Donations

Ready for a new racquet? Bring your old one to the Pro Shop to be donated to youth tennis programs. One of our members collects them to give to kids that may not be able to afford their own racquets when getting started in this terrific sport.

WakeMed Children's Hospital Fundraiser

In our first annual fund raiser for the hospital, we enjoyed tennis and spending time with some of the WakeMed staff while helping raise money for our local children's hospital. View some photos from the event and a description of that night's activities...

Look for the second annual event this Winter to be played on our indoor courts!

Shoe Donations

The Raleigh Racquet recently participated in a shoe drive through Share Our Shoes.  We still have a collection box in our club house if you would like to bring your shoes you no longer need and help get them to someone that does.
